5.2 kW, and the flame wraps the pan

The burner is shaped to take the flame around the base of a wok rather than up its sides, which is what shortens the cooking and keeps the wok hei in the food.

The difference it makes

The same dish stir-fried at 5.2 kW and on an ordinary gas hob. Slow fire steams the ingredients; fast fire sears them, which is the whole argument for a high-output burner in a Malaysian kitchen.

Torch-level co-combustion

A brass burner fire cap that resists high temperature without deforming, an aviation-grade burner cap under it, and a square drill pan in high-temperature ceramic glaze that stays put and wipes clean.

63% thermal efficiency

First-class energy efficiency: a higher share of the gas ends up in the pan rather than around it, which is both a lower bill and a cooler kitchen.

Set the time and walk away

A timer per zone: set it for a steam, a stew or a braise, and the hob turns the fire off when the time is up. The tiles under the picture are eight minutes, twenty and ninety-nine.

It comes apart to clean

The burner lifts out, so soup, oil and crumbs are wiped from a flat surface rather than fished out of a burner ring. That is 360 degrees of access, and no blind spots.

Anti-explosion tempered glass with an oil and dirt resistant surface: no stains, no scratches from a pan set down hard, and one wipe after dinner.

X-shaped pan support

Non-slip, so a round-bottomed wok stays where it is put through a hard stir-fry instead of walking across the hob.

Questions about the C822G

What is a "free die-cut size" fit, and will it fit my counter?

It means the base is not fixed to one cut-out size: the hob is designed to sit over a range of existing openings rather than one exact hole, so replacing an older hob usually does not mean re-cutting stone. VATTI publishes no millimetre range for this model, so have your dealer measure the opening before ordering. The C836G states its range outright: 650 to 710 mm by 350 to 400 mm.

Is 5.2 kW enough for wok cooking?

Yes. 5.2 kW is high-heat stir-fry output, and the burner is shaped so the flame wraps the base of the wok rather than licking up its sides. At 63% thermal efficiency more of that gas ends up in the pan than in the room.

What does the timer do?

You set a time per zone and the hob turns that burner off when it expires: eight minutes for a steam, twenty for a stew, up to ninety-nine for a braise. It is the feature that lets you leave the kitchen.

How is the C822G cleaned?

The burners are detachable, so the top wipes flat with nothing to work around. The glass is anti-scratch tempered with an oil-resistant surface, and the knob pads are sealed so grease does not run into the base shell.

Is it safe to leave running?

Each burner has a flame failure device: if the flame goes out, the gas is cut. The ignition is pulse electronic from a battery box that lifts out from above rather than from inside the cabinet.

What warranty does the C822G carry?
